Ways to Get Involved

The success of ABI Foundation programming is largely dependent on the involvement and commitment of many program volunteers and partners. There are several ways to become or stay involved with Leadership Iowa.

There is much that goes into the planning of Leadership Iowa sessions. It takes a team of individuals to provide exclusive experiences, secure subject matter experts as speakers, coordinate unique meeting space and more. If you have extensive knowledge in a session topic or if you are a community leader residing in the session location, we would love to collaborate with you. View session topics and locations online here and contact Kay Neumann-Thomas to learn more about joining a session planning committee.

Leadership Iowa would not be possible without the help of our many program sponsors. From annual sponsors who contribute funds to cover general program expenses and tuition assistance, to individual session sponsors who provide items such as meals and transportation for the class, each level of support is vital to the success of the program. To learn how you or your organization can become a sponsor and the benefits of doing so contact Amanda Nuzum.

Are you looking for a unique way to give back to Leadership Iowa and the ABI Foundation? Consider donating your time and expertise to the Leadership Iowa Board of Governors, or volunteer to be part of a committee. Committee roles range from connecting with alumni across the state to helping select the participants for the next Leadership Iowa class. Board opportunities also exist with the ABI Foundation, Business Horizons and Leadership Iowa University boards. Additional information about joining the Leadership Iowa Board of Governors can be downloaded here

The ABI Foundation also hosts two extraordinary statewide programs for high school and college students:

Business Horizons brings together 100+ high school students from across the state for one week during the summer to learn about business and entrepreneurship, discover their personal strengths and take part in hands-on competitions and challenges that will help them develop their skills for a successful future. Volunteers and support are needed each year to make this program a success. Visit the Business Horizons website to learn more and the Volunteer page for additional opportunities.

Leadership Iowa University is uniquely designed to provide Iowa college students an opportunity to not only connect with other student-leaders from across the state, but develop their personal and professional skills and discover new opportunities in our state before graduation. The program consists of a one-week session in August that takes place in Des Moines and surrounding areas. Students also have the opportunity to attend the YP Iowa Conference in the fall, and take part in a year-long mentorship with an Iowa professional in his/her career field of interest. Visit the Leadership Iowa University website for details.

Interested in getting involved with the ABI Foundation, but not sure which role is right for you? Contact us and we would love to talk with you about our many opportunities.
